US sues Google

The US Department of Justice has filed a lawsuit against Google in an effort to combat the dominance of Big Tech, alleging that the company has monopolistic control over the digital advertising market.

Google is charged with employing “anti-competitive, exclusionary, and unlawful measures to eradicate or significantly weaken any threat to its dominance over digital advertising technologies” in a lawsuit that was filed on Tuesday in a federal court in Virginia by the DoJ and a number of US states.

According to the report, “industry Goliath” Google hurt competition in the ad tech sector “by launching a systematic campaign to acquire control of the broad range of high-tech tools used by publishers, advertisers, and brokers to facilitate digital advertising.”
