In a recent announcement, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that new embassies will be established on the African continent during the first quarter of 2023. Zelenskyy emphasized the need to revitalize relationships with numerous African countries, with plans to open Ukrainian embassies in ten identified states.
These efforts follow a visit by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba to several African nations in October, which aimed to strengthen diplomatic ties.
Unfortunately, Kuleba had to cut short his trip due to Russia’s missile attacks on Ukrainian cities during the same time. Despite Russia’s growing influence in Africa, Ukraine has been seeking support in the region since the onset of the Russian invasion in February.
