Ukraine Accused of Kremlin Drone Attack

Russia has made a serious accusation against Ukraine, claiming that the country attempted to launch a drone attack on the Kremlin overnight with the intent of assassinating President Vladimir Putin.

This marks the most significant charge Moscow has made against Kyiv since the ongoing conflict between the two neighbors began. According to Russian officials, Putin was not present in the building during the alleged attack, and there was no visible damage to the Kremlin. However, they have warned that they reserve the right to retaliate.

State news outlet RIA has reported that the Kremlin regards the event as a premeditated act of terrorism and an attempt on the president’s life, particularly as it took place on the eve of Victory Day, the May 9 Parade. Putin has not altered his plans and continues to work at his Novo Ogaryovo residence outside Moscow.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has denied the accusations, stating that Ukraine has not attacked Moscow or its president. Senior Ukrainian presidential official Mykhailo Podolyak has also confirmed that Kyiv had no involvement in the alleged incident, suggesting that Russia’s claims may be a false flag operation. Podolyak has expressed concerns that Russia is preparing for a significant terrorist attack.
