UK Rwanda Plan ” Dead and Buried”

The controversial plan to deport asylum seekers from the UK to Rwanda has been officially scrapped. The previous Conservative government had announced this plan in 2022, intending to send migrants who arrived in Britain without permission to Rwanda.

However, due to legal challenges, no one was actually sent to Rwanda under this scheme. The new UK Prime Minister, Keir Starmer, declared the plan “dead and buried” because it failed to act as a deterrent, with only about 1% of asylum seekers being removed. Starmer aims to address other challenges, such as improving public services and reviving the economy
