UK richest family gets jail terms

The Hinduja family, known as the UK’s richest family, faced legal consequences in Switzerland. Prakash and Kamal Hinduja, along with their son Ajay and his wife Namrata, were found guilty of exploiting staff brought over from India to work at their Geneva villa.

The court sentenced them to prison terms ranging from four to four-and-a-half years. While they were acquitted on the more serious charge of human trafficking, the allegations included paying workers as little as £7 ($8) for 18-hour workdays—far below Swiss legal requirements. Additionally, the family reportedly confiscated passports and restricted their employees’ movement. The Hinduja family’s fortune, estimated at around £37 billion, did not prevent legal consequences for their actions
