Train Attacked and Passengers Kidnapped

Nigeria – Gunmen allegedly wanted N620m in ransom from the 31 Edo rail passengers they kidnapped on Saturday.

On Monday the kidnappers had made their demands known to the victims’ relatives.

Benson Odia, Esan Youth for Good Governance and Social Justice’s executive director, revealed that the kidnappers wanted N20m for each victim.

On Monday, the Nigerian Railway Corporation and the police anti-terrorism team gathered to plan how to rescue the train passengers.

In an interview Odia called the demand ridiculous and urged the government to step up their efforts to free the 31 hostages still in the kidnappers’ possession.
