Tinubu Leading in Nigerian Elections

Nigeria – The All Progressives Congress (APC) and its presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, have filed a suit in the Federal High Court in Kano, seeking to prevent the Labour Party and the People’s Democratic Party from stopping the ongoing collation of results from the presidential election held on Saturday.

The suit, marked FHC/KN/CS/43/2023, also listed the Action Alliance and the Independent National Electoral Commission as defendants. The APC vice presidential candidate, Kashim Shettima, was also listed as a plaintiff.

In the motion on notice filed alongside the originating summons, the plaintiffs requested that the court issue an order to prevent the defendants from halting the collation and announcement of results, stating that “damages will not adequately compensate for the injury that may be occasioned on the Plaintiffs if by the Defendants stop the collation of the result.”
