Suicide bombing outside foreign ministry

Heavy losses were sustained in a suicide bombing outside the Afghan foreign ministry in Kabul.

Although a Taliban official reported the death toll as high as 20, police stated at least five civilians had been slain.

The incident was allegedly carried out by Isis-K, a local branch of the Islamic State organisation.

It follows recent bombings that targeted foreign interests. In the region, there are embassies from a number of nations, including Turkey and China.

Later, Aisha Ahmad, an Afghan journalist, tweeted that her uncle, a prominent diplomat, had perished in the explosion.
