Stadium Stampede Many Injured

Iraq – Local media reports that a stampede outside a stadium in the southern Iraqi city of Basra resulted in at least one football fan’s death and 60 additional injuries.

It took place as tens of thousands of spectators arrived at the Basra International Stadium to witness Iraq face Oman in the Arabian Gulf Cup final.

Some of the injured were in serious condition, according to a medical source who spoke to the state-run Iraqi National Agency (INA).
