Shot a Day Before the Release of his High School Results

South Africa – A boy was shot and killed in Mitchells Plain, Cape Town, only hours before the announcement of his matric results, and a community activist is blaming gangsters for the crime.

On Thursday afternoon, after a group of men in a car stopped up at a spaza shop and shot student Wakeel Dreyer 17 times, large crowds gathered there.

Warrant Officer Joseph Swartbooi, a spokesman for the Western Cape police, said officers arrived on the site shortly after 16:00 and discovered the body of the 18-year-old student.
