Search for landslide survivors.

According to state media, 15 individuals have been discovered deceased following a landslide in Sichuan province, located in south-western China. The catastrophe occurred in Xinmo village, Maoxian county, where approximately 40 residences were destroyed when a section of a mountain collapsed at around 06:00 local time (22:00 GMT on Friday).

Intensive efforts by rescue teams are underway to locate any survivors who may be trapped beneath the rocks dislodged by heavy rainfall. President Xi Jinping has called upon the rescuers to exert maximum efforts in their operations. Remarkably, a couple and an infant were successfully rescued and transported to a hospital by workers employing ropes to maneuver large rocks.

This information was reported by local authorities and AFP news agency. Qiao Dashuai recounted to CCTV that they were awakened by the baby and as they approached the entrance of their home, they were carried away by water. Qiao further mentioned that his parents and other relatives are still unaccounted for.
