Officers dismantle fake sim card scheme in Sandton, apprehending 45 suspects.

Gauteng authorities detained 45 individuals for suspected cybercrimes after raiding a residence in Sandton, Johannesburg, during a targeted operation.

Acting on a tip-off, the Gauteng Organised Crime Investigation Unit descended on the property on Friday.

Upon entering, they discovered numerous bogus sim cards from leading mobile providers in a garage and backroom.

Mobile network experts were summoned to verify the authenticity of the sim cards, which they determined to be counterfeit.
