Namibia is set to introduce visa restrictions for several nationalities that do not currently offer visa-free entry to Namibian nationals. The decision was announced by Namibia’s Ministry of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety, and Security on May 24. The proposal, submitted by Home Affairs Minister Albert Kawana, has been authorized by Namibia’s cabinet.
Approximately 37 countries will be affected by the new visa requirements for entry into Namibia. These countries include Armenia, Australia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong (SAR), Iceland, Indonesia, Ireland, Italy, Jamaica, Japan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Macau (SAR), Mauritius, Moldova, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Russia, Seychelles, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Tanzania, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, the United Kingdom, the United States of America, and Uzbekistan.
The implementation of visa restrictions may have an impact on Namibia’s international tourism numbers.
