Mount Fuji to be blocked

In response to the issue of overcrowding and unruly behavior by tourists, Japanese authorities in Fujikawaguchiko town have decided to take direct action. They will install a massive black barrier to block the view of Mount Fuji from a popular photo spot. . Here are the key details:

  1. The barrier will be 2.5 meters (8 feet) high and stretch the length of a cricket pitch (approximately 20 meters).

  2. Construction is scheduled to begin as early as next week.

  3. The town official expressed regret over the necessity of this measure due to the behavior of some tourists who fail to respect rules and guidelines

The specific photo spot in question is near a Lawson convenience store, which provides a picturesque view of Mount Fuji. Social media has contributed to the spot’s popularity, as it is considered very Japanese. However, the influx of mostly non-Japanese tourists has led to overcrowding on the adjacent pavement, prompting the town to take this drastic step.

While regrettable, the town hopes that the barrier will alleviate the situation until a more sustainable solution can be found.
