Mafia Boss Escapes from Prison

A mafia leader, Marco Raduano, also known as “Pallone”, escaped from Badu ‘e Carros Prison in Nuoro, Sardinia, on Saturday morning using a simple but effective method. He obtained a key to the prison courtyard and used knotted bed sheets to descend down the exterior wall.

Raduano, who was serving 19 years for mafia crimes, dropped onto some grass and fled two hours before the guards discovered he had escaped. The prison had been struggling with security due to staff shortages, according to the prison’s general secretary, and an inspection of the facility will be conducted.

A manhunt is underway to find Raduano. The escape occurred a few months after the capture of mafia boss Matteo Messina Denaro, who had been on the run for 23 years.
