LabHost, a comprehensive platform catering to aspiring fraudsters, successfully duped up to 70,000 victims in the UK alone.
In an extensive operation conducted globally, law enforcement agencies have apprehended suspects associated with LabHost, resulting in the shutdown of the platform’s illicit activities.
LabHost, established in 2021, exploited approximately 70,000 victims in the UK and acquired 480,000 card numbers and 64,000 PINs worldwide, as reported by the Metropolitan Police.
The site, orchestrated by a criminal syndicate, facilitated over 2,000 users in establishing phishing websites aimed at stealing sensitive personal information, including email credentials, passwords, and banking details.
Subscribing criminals could access a variety of existing fraudulent sites or request tailored pages resembling those of reputable institutions such as banks, healthcare organizations, and postal services.
LabHost even provided tutorials to assist novice fraudsters with limited IT proficiency, concluding with a robotic voice advising: “Stay safe and good spamming.”
Members with worldwide membership privileges, enabling them to target victims globally, paid monthly fees ranging from £200 to £300.
Since its inception, LabHost has amassed nearly £1 million in payments from criminal users.
