South Africa -Airlines are hurrying to expand their fleets due to a lack of available space. Flights will be more economical with additional seats, but carriers’ wings may be clipped if demand is underestimated.
The demand for domestic travel in South Africa exceeds the number of seats that are available on aircraft. Due to the lack of supply, airline tickets are now more erratic, and last-minute seat availability is more pricey.
Prior to the Covid-19 outbreak, there were roughly 1.6 million monthly seats available on airlines. This met the demand and, for the most part, maintained the seasonality and lead times of ticket prices.
Many airlines reduced the size of their fleets during the pandemic’s peak to account for falling demand. Others have closed down, even though they were already dealing with severe financial difficulties before to Covid-19.
