German to legalise Cannabis

On Monday, cannabis enthusiasts in Germany celebrated as the nation emerged as the largest European Union (EU) member to legalize recreational use, a move that sparked intense opposition from political opponents and medical groups.

Under the initial phase of the contentious new legislation, individuals over 18 can now possess up to 25 grams of dried cannabis and grow up to three marijuana plants at home.

These adjustments position Germany among the nations with the most lenient cannabis regulations in Europe, aligning it with Malta and Luxembourg, both of which legalized recreational use in 2021 and 2023, respectively.
