Former Pope not well

THE VATICAN – The 95-year-old former pope Benedict XVI, whose health has been steadily declining, is “extremely unwell,” according to Pope Francis, who urged the faithful to pray for him on Wednesday. Benedict, the first pope to step down in six centuries, has virtually disappeared from public view. The few images that have surfaced reveal him to be in deteriorating health.

Francis concluded his public audience by asking everyone to perform a particular prayer for Pope Emeritus Benedict.
