Cyclone Freddy has caused flooding in Malawi resulting in over 400 fatalities, while international aid has arrived and rescue teams are searching for those still stranded. The disaster has left tens of thousands homeless, with approximately 345,000 people affected by landslides, floods, and heavy rains.
Survivors are struggling to access food and basic necessities, with many evacuation centers set up across the country. The neighboring countries of Mozambique and Madagascar have also been affected, with at least 67 deaths and 17 deaths respectively, and the death toll is expected to rise in all three countries.
