Facebook Being Sued

Meta, formerly known as Facebook, is being sued by 43 content moderators who were fired from their jobs in Kenya. The moderators allege that they were subjected to traumatic working conditions that resulted in mental and emotional distress, including PTSD, anxiety, and depression.

The moderators were employed by an outsourcing company called Samasource, which was contracted by Facebook to monitor and remove harmful content from its platform.

The moderators claim that they were not provided with adequate training, support, or equipment to deal with the disturbing content they were exposed to, and that their employers failed to protect their mental and emotional wellbeing. The lawsuit is seeking compensation for the harm caused to the moderators, as well as changes to the working conditions for content moderators in Kenya.
