Did the Boeing whistleblower commit Suicide?

John Barnett, a former quality control engineer at Boeing, tragically died by suicide. His death occurred in March, and it followed his involvement in a whistleblower case against the aerospace company. Barnett had raised concerns about Boeing’s production issues and alleged that the company intentionally used defective parts in its planes.

An extensive law enforcement investigation determined that Barnett’s cause of death was suicide. He was found dead from a gunshot wound in his car in the parking lot of his hotel in Charleston, South Carolina. The investigation revealed that the bullet had been fired by the firearm located in Barnett’s hand. A notebook with Barnett’s fingerprints was found next to him in the car passenger seat, containing what amounted to a suicide note.

It’s heartbreaking to hear about the toll that chronic stress, anxiety, and PTSD took on John Barnett. His dedication to raising safety concerns within Boeing highlights the importance of whistleblowers in ensuring accountability and safety in the aerospace industry.
