Climate Protests results in Airport Closure

Eight climate protesters were arrested after shutting down Munich Airport, resulting in approximately 60 flight cancellations. Six of the activists glued themselves to a runway access road early on Saturday morning. 

The climate protest group Last Generation claimed responsibility for the action. In videos posted online, their members were seen wearing orange vests on the tarmac. The group highlighted the disparity between air travel and train journeys, emphasizing that flights are often more affordable than train trips. 

During this incident, Munich Airport experienced significant disruption. It was fully closed to take-offs and landings for nearly two hours, with around 11 flights diverted and approximately 60 flights canceled. Delays were still possible as a result of the protest.
