Bridge collapses

Following a collision early on Tuesday, a significant bridge in Baltimore, Maryland, has collapsed after being struck by a container ship, resulting in numerous vehicles plunging into the water.

Baltimore fire department officials reported that at least six individuals are still unaccounted for following the incident. This occurred when a 948-foot container ship, bearing the flag of Singapore and en route to Sri Lanka, collided with the Francis Scott Key Bridge. The impact led to the declaration of a “mass casualty event,” with up to 20 people and several vehicles falling into the Patapsco River.

A video shared on X platform depicted the vessel hitting one of the bridge’s central supports, causing a substantial portion of the 2.6km bridge to collapse, sending vehicles into the river below.
