Australia’s Reserve Bank to Remove Monach from Notes

The new $5 note from Australia will not have a picture of King Charles on it; instead, it will contain an indigenous design in place of the British monarchy.

The new note, which will replace the present photo of the Queen, who passed away last year, and will honor “the culture and history of the First Australians,” according to the country’s central bank.

According to Australia’s Reserve Bank, the King will likely continue to appear on coins.

Although it has become increasingly symbolic over time, the British monarch continues to serve as Australia’s head of state.
