US officials in New York have disclosed that federal aviation authorities are currently probing allegations made by a Boeing engineer regarding assembly flaws in the 787 Dreamliner, posing safety risks.
The whistleblower, Sam Salehpour, represented by his attorneys, asserts that Boeing prioritized profits over safety and retaliated against him by transferring him to the 777 program against his will, subsequent to his raising concerns.
Salehpour continued to voice concerns in the 777 program, and his attorneys claim he faced termination threats as a consequence.
Following a New York Times article outlining Salehpour’s allegations, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed the commencement of an investigation.
According to Salehpour’s attorneys, despite his warnings, Boeing chose to expedite the planes’ release to the market, disregarding the well-documented issues he raised, which they claim led to “critical defects” across approximately 1,500 Boeing aircraft.
