Amber Heat Alert Upgraded -UK

The UK Health Security Agency has upgraded a yellow heat alert to amber in anticipation of the hottest day of the year so far. Five regions in England, including the West Midlands, East Midlands, East of England, South West, and South East, are now under an amber alert.

The Met Office predicts that temperatures could reach 31C (88F) on Saturday, making it the hottest day of the year. The decision to escalate the alert was based on the latest Met Office forecasts, which indicate a high likelihood of rapidly rising temperatures over the weekend in these regions, along with high overnight temperatures.

The amber alert signifies that the weather could have a broader impact on the population, including the NHS. In addition, yellow alerts have been issued in the North East, North West, Yorkshire, and Humber regions, while London remains at the same level. The alerts will be in effect from 9am on Friday until 9am on Monday, 12 June.
