An AI-piloted warplane recently conducted a groundbreaking test flight over California, with Air Force Secretary Frank Kendall onboard. The experimental F-16 jet, known as Vista, demonstrated lightning-fast maneuvers at speeds exceeding 550mph over Edwards Air Force Base. During the flight, Vista engaged in close proximity maneuvers with a human-piloted F-16, racing within 1,000 feet of each other and executing twists and loops to gain tactical advantages.
Reflecting on the experience, Mr. Kendall emphasized the necessity of AI in maintaining security, stating, “It’s a security risk not to have it. At this point, we have to have it.” He emerged from the cockpit with a grin, highlighting the success and potential of AI integration in military aviation.
