Advocate for LGBTQ rights killed

Kenyan police announced on Friday that a suspect had been detained in relation to the death of a well-known advocate for LGBTQ rights, whose body was discovered in the west of the nation put inside a metal box.

The package was dumped by the side of the road from a car with a hidden number plate, and motorbike taxi riders noticed it and called the police, according to reports in The Standard and The Daily Nation newspapers, which cited police sources.

According to the Kenya Human Rights Commission (KHRC), an impartial rights organization, the activist Edwin Chiloba’s bones were discovered on Tuesday in the vicinity of Eldoret town in Uasin Gishu county, where he operated his fashion company.

On Friday, police made an arrest in Eldoret, a town close to the site where the activist’s bones were discovered. Authorities detained a male suspect.
