13 Hours Flight to Nowhere

New Zeland

After their jet to New Zealand was forced to turn around, passengers endured a 13-hour ride to nowhere. On an Emirates flight, passengers traveled for more than 13 hours before landing exactly where they had begun.

At before 10:30 on Friday, flight EK448 took off from Dubai International Airport, but it had to make a nearly halfway detour due to severe floods in Auckland, New Zealand, where it was headed. According to information from Cirium and FlightAware, it made another landing in Dubai shortly after midnight.

After widespread pandemonium and a local state of emergency were brought about by torrential rain on Friday, Auckland International Airport closed both its domestic and international terminals.
